About Naoki Yamada

Naoki Yamada is a Japanese singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and pianist.

After performing with an alternative band in the 2000s, he transitioned to solo work and made his debut with "SIGNAL" in 2017, a J-Pop release. However, he soon realized that the J-Pop scene was not the right fit for him and shifted his focus to international activities. After five years of experimenting, he released his second album, "Exuberance of Life," in March 2023.

Naoki Yamada creates songs that come from physical feelings rather than logical thoughts, like a transparent prism of light, inspired by Imagism and haiku poets. He removes all narratives from pop music and creates his own psychedelia that converts the energy of the nature into sound, not from drugs. Its structure is like a Yayoi Kusama painting that has no central object. His music has minimal repetitions of verses and choruses and instead uses irreversible progressions. This is a contemporary-pop-music version of The Beatles' "Across the Universe," Debussy's "Images," and Paul Gauguin's primitivism and Imagism poetry.
